// Email checks

An email validation API for knowing whether an address is real before you rely on it.

One GET request tells you whether an address can actually receive mail, whether it's a disposable or throwaway address, and whether it carries a history of abuse or shows up in known data leaks — so a bad address gets caught before it costs you a signup, a send, or your sender reputation.

What an email validation check returns

Validity & score

valid, fraud_score

Whether the address is properly formed with a real, resolvable domain, plus a 0–100 fraud score for the address overall.

Disposable & catch-all

disposable, catch_all

Whether the domain belongs to a throwaway or temporary-mail service, and whether the mail server accepts anything sent to it — which makes per-mailbox validation unreliable on its own.

Deliverability & SMTP

deliverability, smtp_score

Whether mail sent to the address is likely to actually land, and a mailbox-level confidence score from an SMTP-level check.

Domain configuration

spf_record, dmarc_record, dns_valid, risky_tld

Whether the sending domain has SPF and DMARC configured, has valid mail DNS records, and sits on a top-level domain associated with abuse.

Abuse & leak history

recent_abuse, leaked, honeypot, frequent_complainer, spam_trap_score

Whether the address has been tied to recent abuse, appears in known data breaches, is a spam-trap or honeypot address, or belongs to someone who frequently marks mail as spam.

Age & type

first_seen, domain_age, generic

How long the address and its domain have been seen, and whether it looks like a generic mailbox alias such as info@ or support@ rather than a named individual.

Where teams use it

Block disposable addresses on your free tier

Throwaway inboxes exist to grab another free trial the moment the first one ends. Checking disposable at signup lets you close that loop without touching real customers.

Protect sender reputation before a send

One send to a spam trap or a pile of undeliverable addresses can get a whole domain throttled. Filter on deliverability and spam_trap_score before a campaign goes out, not after your bounce rate spikes.

Score a lead list you paid for

Purchased or scraped lead lists always include stale and fabricated addresses. Run the list through in bulk and drop what fails valid, deliverability or fraud_score before it reaches sales.

Questions, answered.

Does this send an email to the address? +
No message is ever composed or delivered, and the address owner is never notified. The smtp_score signal comes from a server-level handshake with the recipient's mail server to confirm the mailbox exists — not from anything landing in an inbox.
What's the difference between disposable, catch-all and invalid? +
disposable means the domain is a known throwaway/temporary-mail service. catch_all means the mail server accepts mail to any address at that domain, so a valid-looking response doesn't confirm that specific mailbox exists. valid: false means the address is malformed or the domain can't receive mail at all.
What does deliverability mean? +
A plain-language read on whether mail sent to the address is likely to arrive — high, medium or low — combining the validity, catch-all and domain signals into one field you can filter on directly.
Does a "valid" result guarantee the address is real? +
No check can guarantee that — mailboxes get abandoned and addresses go stale after the fact. valid and fraud_score are the best signal available at the moment of the check, not a permanent certificate.
What does a check cost? +
One credit per check, whatever the type. Credit packs are prepaid, there is no subscription, and credits do not expire. You start with 25 free credits after verifying your email.
Can I check many addresses at once? +
Yes — POST /api/v1/check/email/batch scores up to 100 addresses per request, billing one credit per successful check.
